Junior Service League Maryville
Improving the Lives of Local Children and Families
Junior Service League is committed to the sponsorship and support of Toys for Blount County, and fosters interest among its members in all areas of community service.
A word from our President
I am honored to serve as President of Junior Service League, just as I am equally proud to be a part of an organization that has such a positive impact on our community. Our annual Toys for Blount County campaign purchases toys for 1,400 needy Blount County children. Our pancake breakfasts and Foothills Triathlon events raise funds to allow us to purchase these Christmas toys.
Also throughout the year, our members spend their time assisting community organizations in achieving their goals. Whether it’s hanging drywall at a Habitat House, collecting food donations for the Community Food Connection, encouraging children at the Special Olympics, or providing snacks for abused children at New Hope Children’s Advocacy Center, our members strive to make our community a better place. By assisting these other agencies, as well as working on our Toys for Blount County campaign; our members work tirelessly to help improve the lives of local children and families.
My most gratifying moment each year is when we finish packing boxes of Christmas toys. As I glance at the mountain of boxed gifts, I think of the 1,400 smiling faces on Christmas morning of the children we serve. It’s amazing what a group of sixty women can accomplish when we all collectively work towards a common goal. I am constantly impressed and proud of the dedication of our Junior Service League members. They live busy lives, balancing families and careers, yet they are eager to participate in Junior Service League activities and do so with great enthusiasm. It is a true privilege to work with this remarkable group of women to put smiles on the faces of the children in need in our community.
